Umbrella of Hope "Be Our Pet"

2 yr old, 4 lb Chihuahua and Toy Fox Terrier NEUTERED MALE for ADOPTION

Meet Mr ForestGreen Crayola!

ForestGreen is one of our September dogs who has just received medical clearance to get adopted.

ForestGreen is a 2 yr old, 4.7 lb Chihuahua and Toy Fox Terrier Mix NEUTERED MALE. He is also microchipped, vaccinated and free of parasites. He joins us from Contra Costa Animal Services where he was brought in as an injured stray.

ForestGreen came to us with a broken pelvis and broken leg. As he was an unneutered male, he probably got hit by a car while out chasing a love connection. Unneutered male dogs make up the VAST majority of hit-by-car injured strays that we take into our rescue.

According to his x-rays, it seemed like ForestGreen was going to need his back leg amputated. But when our vet examined him, she noticed he was using it even with as bad of a break that was showing on the x-ray. She said "dogs don't walk on their x-rays" and so he got sent home with the requirement of strict cage rest to heal his leg and broken pelvis and it WORKED.

His foster mom says this about him "Hes pretty adorable...loves to give kisses. He needs to warm up to you first and seems to prefer women to men. He does cower a bit when you try to pet his head.

He is going to make someone a very nice lap dog companion. With that said he does have a flaw...he has taken whining to the next level. Its pretty much an artform, lol. Sometimes its because he wants in your lap, other times I have no idea what he wants!

He gets along great with other dogs too and uses the potty pad all the time, prefers it to outside . In all, I think he is going to make a full recovery and be a great pet for someone. Hes just a lil needy "

ForestGreen is housebroken on pee pads (but will go outside if taken) He is crate-trained (with a little whining if he knows you are there). He does well on the leash and is fine with kids, cats and dogs.
